Impact Act

The bill is called the "Improving and Maintaining Protections, Accountability, and Community Trust Act" or "IMPACT Act".

The bill prohibits a law enforcement agency from holding or detaining a person beyond the point that he or she is eligible for release from custody based solely on an immigration hold request administrative warrant unless this request meets the legal standard of a judicial warrant.

The bill prohibits a court from using the existence of an immigration hold request or administrative warrant as the deciding factor in setting bond in criminal cases.
